All reportsResearch overview
SNAP-8, also called acetyl octapeptide-3, is a synthetic peptide (Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-Ala-Asp-NH2) modelled on the N-terminal end of SNAP-25, one of the proteins that form the SNARE complex. It is an extended version of the six-amino-acid peptide known as acetyl hexapeptide-8.
The SNARE complex pulls neurotransmitter-filled vesicles against the cell membrane so they can release their contents. By competing with SNAP-25 for a place in the complex, SNAP-8 is studied for reducing neurotransmitter release in cell models, a mechanism of interest in cosmetic science. It contains methionine, so store it sealed and dark.

Questions
What is SNAP-8 modelled on?
On the N-terminal end of SNAP-25, a protein of the SNARE complex that controls neurotransmitter release.
How does SNAP-8 relate to acetyl hexapeptide-8?
It is the same idea extended by two amino acids, eight instead of six.
What's in the vial?
SNAP-8 at the strength you choose. No diluent or accessories are included.
Can I check the lab report for my vial?
Yes. The batch number on your vial matches a report on this page or in our lab report library, with a link to verify it on the lab's website where available.
Is this product for human use?
No. It's sold for laboratory research use only and isn't for human or veterinary use.
