Research overview
Epithalon is the synthetic tetrapeptide Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG), designed in Vladimir Khavinson's group in St Petersburg from the composition of Epithalamin, a pineal gland extract. With a molecular weight of about 390 g/mol it is small, water-soluble and relatively robust.
A 2003 study reported that it induced telomerase activity and telomere elongation in cultured human fibroblasts, and a mouse study reported longer maximum lifespan without a change in mean lifespan. Most research comes from one school, so independent replication is the main gap. Read our Epithalon research overview, and see Epithalon capsules for an oral format.
