Tesamorelin is a stabilised analogue of the full 44-amino-acid growth hormone-releasing hormone, with a trans-3-hexenoyl group on its N-terminus that protects it from DPP-4. It keeps the activity of natural GHRH with a longer duration.
Tesamorelin is approved in the United States as a medicine for reducing excess abdominal fat in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy, which makes it the GHRH analogue with the most clinical data. In research it serves as a reference GHRH-receptor agonist and as the GHRH component of the tesamorelin + ipamorelin blend. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder with a batch lab report.
