BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide with the sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV, a partial sequence of body protection compound, a protein first isolated from human gastric juice. It is unusually stable for a peptide, even in gastric juice, and has a molecular weight of about 1,419 g/mol.
Most BPC-157 research comes from rodent models of gut, tendon, ligament and muscle injury. Cell studies link it to FAK-paxillin signalling in tendon fibroblasts and to VEGFR2-Akt-eNOS signalling in blood-vessel cells.
