Research overview
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide encoded by a short open reading frame inside the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene, one of the first peptides found to be encoded in mitochondrial DNA. It acts mainly on skeletal muscle, where it inhibits the folate pathway and purine synthesis, leading to activation of the energy sensor AMPK.
In mice, MOTS-c prevented insulin resistance caused by ageing and a high-fat diet and improved physical capacity in young, middle-aged and old animals, and exercise raises its levels in human muscle and blood. It contains methionine, so keep it sealed and dark. Read MOTS-c and SS-31.

Questions
Where is MOTS-c encoded?
In mitochondrial DNA, within the 12S ribosomal RNA gene.
How does MOTS-c act on metabolism?
It inhibits the folate pathway and purine synthesis in muscle cells, which activates AMPK.
What's in the vial?
MOTS-c at the strength you choose. No diluent or accessories are included.
Can I check the lab report for my vial?
Yes. The batch number on your vial matches a report on this page or in our lab report library, with a link to verify it on the lab's website where available.
Is this product for human use?
No. It's sold for laboratory research use only and isn't for human or veterinary use.
